29 Apr 2026

Welcome to an evening dedicated to artist books as sites for sound, listening, and voice.

Listening with Books
Simone Book Service
Vester Voldgade 106, st. tv, 1552 Copenhagen
5 May
17:00–19:00

Co-hosted by Bureau for Listening, the event brings together two artist talks that explore how listening and sonic practices can be composed, translated, and activated through the medium of the artist book.

The evening unfolds through two artist talks along with an exhibition opening.

Linn Henrichson & Lukas Lund on Anthology for Listening Vol. II
A comprehensive publication with more than 50 contributions that approaches the artist book as a site for listening, across disciplines, both as printed, online and live matter.

Marie Thams & Jacob Hagen Birch on This Biopolitical Arena
The publication gathers Thams' work with voice over the last decade, across sound, performance, and installation, translating vocal compositions into visual and textual forms that invite reading as a mode of listening. Developed in close collaboration with Jacob Hagen Birch, the book foregrounds how form, layout, and materiality supports the politics of voice and embodiment.

The exhibition Library for Listening will present a selection of artists' books for listening from within the Bureau for Listening's library, demonstrating the diversity of engagements with listening and sonic practices through the medium of the book.
