Lancering af De Ny Udstillingsaftaler d. 25. februar - samarbejde mellem UKK, BKF og FKD

Kom til lancering af de nye udstillingsaftaler samt fejring af et historisk samarbejde mellem UKK, BKF, FKD og ODM d. 25. februar kl 15.00 på Statens Værksteder for Kunst, Kbh.

De nye aftaler
UKK har i det sidste halve år samarbejdet med BKF (Billedkunstnernes Forbund), FKD (Foreningen for Kunsthaller i Danmark) og ODM (Organisationen Danske Museer) om at udarbejde et sæt standard udstillingsaftaler 'Den nye udstillingsaftale' til billedkunstnere og kunsthaller/museer/udstillingsteder samt 'Den Nye Kuratoraftale' til eksterne kunstformidlere/kuratorer og kunsthaller/museer/udstillingssteder. Sammen med aftalerne lanceres yderligere vejledning og udkast til alternative ansættelsesaftaler, også til brug ifm. udstillinger.

Lancering og reception
Det hele fejres og udstillingsaftalerne lanceres d. 25. februar kl. 15.00 på Statens Værksteder for Kunst, Kbh. I inviteres hermed til lanceringen, hvor programmet vil byde på: Velkomst og introduktion ved de samarbejdende organisationer, tale ved Kulturminister Marianne Jelved, performance af Olof Olsson - der vil også være champagne og lidt at spise. 


Et historisk samarbejde
Samarbejdet er historisk idet det er første gang, at kunstneriske organisationer, der både repræsentere de udstillende kunstnere freelance formidlere og kuratorer og udstillingsstederne, er gået sammen på denne måde i Danmark.

Aftalerne vidner om en gensidig interesse i at skabe et mere positivt miljø, en ligeværdig dialog samt sikre bedre vilkår for kunstnere, formidlere og institutioner. Aftalerne, der er frivillige at bruge, skal ses som et redskab til at tale åbent om de praktiske, økonomiske og ansvarsmæssige spørgsmål ifm. udstillinger.
Vi tror på, at aftaler udarbejdet ved et samarbejde mellem udøvende billedkunstnere og udstillingssteder kan blive et afgørende redskab og skridt i en positiv retning.

Arbejdet er en vigtig sag for UKK og for hele det kunstneriske felt, da aftalerne aktivt kan være med til at forbedre vores arbejdsvilkår – sæt derfor kryds i kalenderen d. 25. februar, del budskabet og videresend denne invitation.

Family Man - opening exhibition

Open: 15th - 28th of February 2014: Wednesday-Friday 12–5 pm and Saturday/Sunday 12–3 pm.

With the exhibition Family Man, we wish to mark the opening of the new artistic platform ODRADEK - a studio collective and a project space.



ODRADEK is currently run by 8 artists: Timothy Citizen, Simen Joachim Helsvig, Kim Young Kilde, Mathias Kryger (substitute), Asle Pettersen Lauvland, Trine Mee Sook Gleerup, Tue Sprogø and Marie Thams.

Invited artists, Family Man: Morten Espersen, Kristina Bengtsson, Honey Biba Beckerlee, Bonnie Fortune, Jonas Jensen, Stefan A. Pedersen and Emily Robertson.

The exhibition Family Man is shown in ODRADEK’s basement room; a rectangular, windowless room with a built-in shelf system. Eventually the room will be cleared of the shelves, but for the first exhibition the furniture is articulated as a display body, around which the show is structured.

With ODRADEK we wish to set focus on the process and dialogue in artistic practice and in the future we will present exhibitions, talks, reading groups, symposia and screenings.

Both the name of the platform and the exhibition title is a direct reference to Franz Kafka’s short story 'The Cares of A Family Man' (Die Sorge des Hausvaters), written between 1914-17 and published in Danish in 1941. In the story Kafka introduces the phenomenon Odradek, an intangible and indefinite part of the family man’s existence: both body and non-body, object and non-object, a physical or psychological character, libido in the form of an amputated organ or simply the family man’s constant longing for a different life.

Kafka's text can be read as an invitation to critically examine the question of productivity – artistic as well as material. With the opening of ODRADEK we accept this challenge, introducing a new open platform for artistic activities, with a focus on an extended community.

Symposium - MAKING ROOM

MAKING ROOM:

The symposium Making Room runs over two days and aims at investigating and discussing the relation between contemporary artist-run spaces and the early artist associations and institutions of the Modern Breakthrough in the Nordic countries. The programme includes a number of talks, a lecture performance and two excursions to The Hirschsprung Collection and the artist-run exhibition space Sydhavn Station.

The symposium questions how artists’ own institutions interplay with other institutions and whether or not they can – or ought to - be seen as practising an alternative institutional critique, if they are foremost a form of artistic practice, or simply function as strategic stepping stones for upcoming artists.

Many of the institutional structures of the art world, which we still work within today, developed in the second half of the 19th century. Most notable is the evolving relationship between academies, collectors, museums and audience, and the way in which this acted as a catalyst for artist associations and organisations both in the Nordic countries and in the rest of Europe. Making Room wishes to draft a history of artists' breaks from their institutions in a Nordic context and to look at the motivations and terms of today's self-organised art spaces.

The symposium is organised in a collaboration between the project Nordic Art. The Modern Breakthrough at the University of Leeds by professor David Jackson, The Hirschsprung Collection and Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art.

Organisers: Hannah Heilmann, visual artist and PDRA at University of Leeds and Marie Thams, visual artist, project coordinator at Den Frie.

The symposium and the publication will be in English.
